Acht (ミズタ アハト, Mizuta Ahato^?, lit. Eight Giant Pacific octopus), better known by their pseudonym Dedf1sh, is a musician in Splatoon 2 whose songs were released as part of the Octo Expansion. Once a normal Octoling, they entered the underground test facility and became sanitized, with few of their memories remaining.

They re-appear in the Side Order DLC as the elevator sitter, at first due to injury and later due to the elevator always needing someone in it lest it return to the foyer, trapping Pearl and Eight. They also just like leaning in corners.

Appearance

Acht is a sanitized Octoling with light green skin. Their hair looks almost the same as most Octolings, but it is blue and like a Sanitized Octoling's hair instead of the usual red of a standard Octoling. Their hair is also worn down with a orangish pink color at the edges. They wear a black, loose-fitting shirt with their right shoulder revealed as well as a white cap with a face design on it, grey headphones and a black to red bracelet on their left wrist. Unlike most Octolings, Acht also wears Octoling shades which conceals their eyes. Their fingers are a gradient black at the ends.

In Side Order, their hair features a tentacle in the center back, while the two sides have carvings resembling the katakana "ミ" and "ズ" from top to bottom on the left side and "タ" on the right side, spelling out their Japanese last name "ミズタ" (Mizuta). They also have a bandaged left forearm due to injury from a Jelleton they fought, and red-tinted glasses. They have yellow eyes with an infinity shape in the pupils.

Before becoming Sanitized, Acht had a peach skin tone, yellow eyes, a worried look on their face, and reddish-brown hair that faded to blue at the tips (similar to an inversion of their Sanitized appearance). Their eyes had a triangular shape, three eyelashes, and black and yellow pupils shaped like an infinity symbol, just like Marina and Shiver's. Acht also wore five piercings on each ear (six in the last page of Marina's Dev Diaries), and their back tentacles were not yet shaved. As revealed in the second-to-last page of the Dev Diaries, they used to wear the Octarian soldier uniform in a different fashion than the others, with their undershirt having a mid-length sleeve on the left arm and their shorts having a long right leg; additionally, they did not wear a glove on their left hand and instead wore a silver bracelet.

Acht also remixed Splattack! from the first game, which can be heard in the Sanitized Agent 3 fight.

Before the release of the Octo Expansion, a video titled "Catalog Mix" featuring short sections of some of Acht's songs was uploaded. The only Acht's song that was named prior to Octotune's release was Splattack! (Octo).

Trivia

• They use a series of turntables with the number 8 on them and 8 buttons in their album art, the same number as an octopus' number of arms and Agent 8.
• The background of the album art features the same logo seen on the CQ Card and the hat worn by C.Q. Cumber.
• With the style of their tentacles, headphones, and colored fingertips, Dedf1sh bears a resemblance to Marina Ida.
• They have long nails that are a reddish color.
• In the top left of the background, Inkling/Octarian language can be seen. It can be assumed that it says the album name or artist’s name.
• The image on their hat is the same as the one that can be seen on Paul’s hat from SashiMori.
• According to their dialogue shown in the September 2023 Direct's trailer, they and Marina have history together.
  • It was later confirmed in Side Order that they were in the Octarian Army together.
• Before Acht's name was originally revealed, Acht was simply referenced as their Japanese name, Mizuta Ahato.
  • They were also referred to as just Dedf1sh.
• Acht is the German word for the number eight (8).
• The Nintendo Dream Magazine revealed that Dedf1sh wanted to become partially sanitized so they could give up their doubts and conflicts about production and devote themself entirely to music. However, based on some conflicting dialogue in Side Order, they seem to not have very good memory regarding their sanitization.
• Players have theorized that the name and order of the songs are what you feel when you get sanitized, with their purpose being to warn the next test subjects. However, this is not confirmed to be canon.
• Their Squid Research Lab bio reads: "Everyone, meet Dedf1sh. Previously a promising, up and coming DJ, her pursuit of breakbeat perfection eventually led her to a subterranean test facility, where she was "sanitized." Though little of her former self remains, she continues crafting DJ delicacies, and the halls of the test facility echo with her bumping tracks to this very day.” This implies that Acht formerly identified as or was born as female, before shifting to identify as non-binary. Their transition is also mentioned in their name, which was previously revealed to be Mizuta Ahato, though of course their chosen name is Acht.
• While going by Acht everywhere else, their tracks on the jukebox are still under their old stage name "Dedf1sh."
