The Asynchronous Rondo is one of the three random bosses that appears in Side Order, on floor 10 or floor 20.

Appearance[]

The Asynchronous Rondo looks like a top like object that has nine layers. On each layer, it has an arrow pattern. It has a face on each layer.

Behavior[]

In the Asynchronous Rondo fight, the Asynchronous Rondo will have a search light going around in a circle, opposite its Jelleton face on that ring, searching for the player. If it finds them, it will fire either a Toxic Mist, Torpedo, or Inkstrike. In the arena, there are Rails and Bounce Pads. It will send out Jelletons after a ring is destroyed or it goes ballistic and begins to spin rapidly, and Wave breaker like waves when the player goes too close using a ground pound piston located underneath it at the center of the arena.

When it spins rapidly, it will use one of several attacks when it stops, either a Splat Bomb barrage, a barrage of Homing Arpeggios, or tracking Sting Rays. After it does, it momentarily conks out and stops, leaving it vulnerable to attack for a short time before it recovers and resumes its normal attack pattern.

To destroy it, attack the faces when they come around as hitting those deal more damage than attacking the rings directly, which deal lower damage. Taking out the top-most ring, even early into the battle, will destroy the boss instantly, without having to take out the other rings first, but will require a weapon with the range to hit it while avoiding the boss' attacks.

Trivia[]

  • The term "rondo" in music is a structure for a classical piece in which there are alternating episodes of refrains.
  • The Asynchronous Rondo is tied for first boss to use black ink, being tied with the Parallel Canon and the Pinging Marciale.
  • It can actually be heard singing Pearl's part of Ebb & Flow at times, but at half speed and heavily distorted, sounding almost tortured.
