Deepsea Metro Summer Tour!...Revenge of Octo Samurai

— Revenge of Octo Samurai's Boss Fight Intro

The Revenge of Octo Samurai is an Sanitized Octarians fighter and a boss in the Octo Expansion of Splatoon 2. It's a sanitized version of the Octo Samurai and is fought at the Deepsea Metro interchange station for Lines F & J named "Whack-Fu Station".

Appearance[]

He resembles an Octoling, but much larger in size and more masculine. The Octo Samurai has a heavyweight and round body that is similar to as a sumo wrestler, has small eyes, and sports a tentacle on the back of his head in a ponytail. He wears a grayish white leather motorcycle jacket with golden embroidery on the sides and a print of Kamabo Corporation on the back. He carries a Great Octoweapon that is similar to a Gold Dynamo Roller that can change positions vertically or horizontally to the handle, and can combine with his unicycle to form a vehicle which Marina calls "The Octocycle", which Marina points out when he first uses it, to Cap'n Craig Cuttlefish's disgust at the Samurai using an unfair advantage over Agent 8.

Attacks[]

To defeat the Octo Samurai, the player must destroy his weapon. To do this, they must first bombard the boss with ink attacks until he pops, similar to a defeated Inkling or Octoling. After his "ghost" flies away, his Octocycle will flip over and expose its tentacle weak point.

First Phase[]

In the first part of the battle, while the player cannot be splatted directly because of the Baller, the boss's attacks have more than enough force to knock them into the bottomless pit surrounding the (much smaller) arena unless they position themselves in front of the four fences in its corners. Additionally, the boss has the spin attack from Octo Samurai's second phase and performs it much faster, and always swings his roller three times in a row. It is still telegraphed by when you see the glint in the boss' eye before he lets it spin. Baller explosions can interrupt the boss's attacks, but may also leave the player vulnerable to knockback if timed incorrectly.

Second Phase[]

The Octo Samurai retains all of his Phase 1 attacks, along with one new move:

  • He will now begin to use the bike charge, which is executed faster and leaves it vulnerable for a shorter period of time. It will also jump around the arena to confuse the player.

Third Phase[]

The Octo Samurai gains two new attacks, and most of his other attacks become more vicious:

  • The Octo Samurai performs three, extremely long ranged vertical swings. This attack is telegraphed by him raising his Splat Roller and spinning the head rapidly.
  • Gains the jump attack from the Octo Samurai's second phase, which it can use with minimal windup. It will also swing its roller three times in a row in short succession.

Trivia[]

Sanitized Octopus Ghost

An Octoling's "ghost". Revenge of Octo Samurai also leaves behind a similar-looking ghost after he gets "splatted".

Whenever Octo Samurai gets splatted, an octopus-like ghost (similar to those left behind by splatted Octolings) will fly back to his Respawn Point, and will always attempt to do so even as his Respawn Point/Octocycle is about to explode into Ink. This may suggest that Octo Samurai might be a male Octoling himself (like Kamabo Corporation).
