The Flyfish is a Boss Salmonid that is fought in Salmon Run (Splatoon 2) and Salmon Run Next Wave (Splatoon 3).
The Flyfish is a type of Boss Salmonid that hovers in the air using two jet packs. It attacks using Inkling/Octoling seeking missiles that work similarly to the Tenta Missiles special. It’s weak point is throwing a bomb into both of it’s cannons. The ink under it damages at the same speed the Inkjet's exhaust once did, the nerf on the inkjet's exhaust not affecting the Flyfish, now being much more powerful.
Strategy[]
To take it down, a Splat Bomb must be thrown and explode in each of its packs. The Bomb Launcher special can help with this task. Aiming directly at its cockpit with the Sting Ray or Grizzco Slosher works too, as well as aiming at the inside of its packs with the Inkjet, Splashdown, or Explosher. The Splashdown, however, needs to hit the inside of the pack, requiring an activation from above the said pack. This is a risky move, because touching the Flyfish’s hitbox is extremely damaging. The pilot can also be taken down with a fully charged slash from the Grizzco Splatana, and the explosion from the Egg Cannon can also be used to take down both buckets at once if aiming for the middle as well. The mouth cannon of the Crab Tank can also destroy a Flyfishes' buckets.
The red launcher (viewers right) shoots at the player closest to it while the blue launcher (viewers left) randomly fires at active players.

- The Flyfish is piloted by a single Smallfry.
- Instead of using the bombs to splat the Flyfish, players can use the Ink Cannon or the Inkjet to splat its weak spots.
- The name is a pun on "Fly fishing", in which fishers use an artificial fly to catch fish.
- Mr. Grizz calls the Flyfish a "he" indicating that the pilot is a male.
- The only other Boss Salmonid with a confirmed gender is the Maws, called a she by Mr. Grizz.
- Interestingly, the Flyfish can also damage you if you are hit by its bucket lid when it opens its bucket to fire the missiles. The damage is comparable to being hit by a Smallfry
