Goldie Seeking is an event that can happen in Salmon Run.
Strategy[]
Goldie Seeking is an event that can happen at normal or high Tide, always at night. When this event happens, multiple Gushers will open through the stage, and inking the tip will open them. Do not open them all. If you open one, it will start gushing green ink at a certain height and will emit a light from it's base. Your goal is to open the Gusher hiding the Goldie.
If the Gusher you open does not hide the Goldie, it will emit a light and will eject ink at a certain height. A low light and low ink gush means that the Goldie is further away. Oppositely, the brighter the light and higher height, the closer the gusher is to the one containing the Goldie. Aside from providing info about how close the Goldie is, those Gushers will spawn Salmonids non-stop. Smallfries come in batches of three, Chums appear one after the other in groups of two and Cohocks can spawn as well. The spawning seems a bit irregular but constant even after the Goldie is found. This is why they must not be opened recklessly.
By opening the right Gusher, the light from the other Gushers will stop and the Goldie will stay on the high stream of ink from the spawning Gusher for a little while before escaping into another Gusher. The goal is to ink it as much as possible.
After 500 HP, the Goldie will drop one golden egg. Loss in HP will make it smaller and faster every time. When its health pool is depleted, it will explode and release three eggs. If that happens, another Goldie will be hiding. Once it is defeated or if it managed to reach a Gusher, all the Gushers will close and the process will restart. Do not open the gushers right away.
Before attempting to find the Goldie again, the priority must be to get its Eggs. As soon as an egg is dropped, a Snatcher will try to take it and they are very fast if they only need to retrieve one egg.
Tips[]
- Remember, the more Gushers you open, the more enemies will spawn which will make it difficult to find the Goldie. The trick is cooperation and to open them one at a time together: start from the two at opposite ends from each other to get a better idea of where to search; opening one at the center of the map is rarely of use.
- The gushers closes only once the Goldie is gone. When retrieving the eggs and taking out the remaining Salmonids and snatchers, try to avoid hitting a Gusher by mistake.
- If a Goldie has escaped, start from when it appeared before. The Goldie appears to have a habit of returning to the exact Gusher it first spawned in.
