If you find yourself on the receiving end of a laser pointer, RUN.

— Mr. Grizz, after the shift is over by losing in a special Griller wave

The Griller is one of the various types of Boss Salmonids that are fought in both versions of Salmon Run. They don’t appear in any modes except in the Griller mode. Instead of the normal 3, they drop 5 Golden Eggs when defeated. They appear to be the Salmon Run counterpart of Flooders.

Description[]

These guys are nothing more than Salmonids (most likely Chum) inside a barbecue griller, except for their tails sticking out. Grillers move along a path while ink falls beneath their slim bodies (similar to Flooders). It chases after a randomly chosen worker, indicated by a laser pointer on its underside. The Griller will relentlessly pursue the person the tracking laser is pointed at. Under, Smallfry salmonoids tag along in high groups. Again, these guys are event-specific bosses and only appear in their own mode, where no other boss is present. Usually, the events happen when it is dark and high-tide.

Attack Method[]

Grillers are strong enemies that instantly one shot players, regardless of situation. They only attack short-range, but their attack is very effective. They target one and only one co-worker (shown by their red laser pointing at a player), then they chase it, trying to get them under their deadly Salmonoid ink. Once the player is defeated, the Griller targets another person. In order to destroy a Griller, players must first hit the exposed tail in the back to stun it, then attack the four other tails which appear while it's stunned. Anywhere else, and the overgrown fish takes no damage. If an Inkling runs into its ink, it's an instant splat. Grillers are fast, so players have to be careful and wary of both the Salmonoid as well as its Smallfry escorts. Grillers always take the shortest route to their target, and if this target dies, another is instantly selected.

Tips and strategies[]

  • Grillers only show up in certain special waves. If Mr. Grizz talks about Grillers in the dialogue box instead of Boss Salmonids, that means the players are in the special wave. This wave consists of only Grillers and small groups of Smallfry. Grillers only show up one or two at a time due to the difficulty of defeating them but, given the fact that they come at specific times, taking too long to defeat one will result in the new Grillers joining those already there, making things much more difficult.
  • The player who is being aimed at should run and lure it away so that the back side is open for other team members to attack. Grillers will lower themselves if they pass through another Griller.

Trivia[]

  • The event that it is in was nerfed so that splatting a Griller would cause it to drop 5 Golden Eggs, instead of 3.
  • The weak points of Griller are actually tails of Chums that are grilled.
  • They are also present in Salmon Run: The Next Wave.
