Jellyfish are creatures found in Splatoon, Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3. They can be found walking around Inkopolis and Splatsville wearing various articles of clothing. The series' jellyfish highly resemble real-life jellyfish. However, the jellyfish in this game are smaller than most, and are highly anthropomorphized to the point of having eyes and being bipedal, likely from similar evolutions to those of the Inklings and Octarians.
Notable individuals[]
Jelonzo[]
- Main article: Jelonzo
Jelonzo is a blue jellyfish who owns Jelly Fresh, a clothing store in Inkopolis Plaza’s Booyah Base. Most jellyfish in Inkopolis cannot speak the Inkling language; while Jelonzo is an exception, he is only able to speak Inkling with a thick accent, which the English localizations translate as English.
Jelfonzo[]
Main article: Jelfonzo
Jelfonzo is a jellyfish that manages Ye Olde Cloth Shoppe, a clothing store in Inkopolis Square’s Galleria. He is Jelonzo’s asexually produced offspring, so their physical appearances are very similar. Since Jelfonzo learned the Inkling language by studying some sort of ancient text, his manner of speaking is quite archaic and similar to Shakespearean English.
Jel La Fleur[]
Main article: Jel La Fleur
Table Turf Battle[]
In Table Turf Battle, five different Jellyfish can be faced against as opponents - Baby Jelly, Cool Jelly, Aggro Jelly, Jel La Fleur and Clone Jelly.

Trivia[]
- Jellyfishes are featured in all of the arcade games.
- Marie of the Squid Sisters references this species in advice for Arowana Mall: "Float like a jellyfish, sting like a… jellyfish?" Because the stores and restaurants in the mall are themselves filled with jellyfish, this mention may have been an intentional joke, not a coincidence.
- The phrase "Float like a jellyfish, sting like a jellyfish" comes from Muhammad Ali's phrase, "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee". Muhammad Ali is a boxer who was "widely regarded as one of the most significant and celebrated sports figures of the 20th century."
- Jellyfishes can be found in most of the stages in Regular Battle, but are absent in Ranked Battle.
- By entering swim form, a player can somewhat go through jellyfishes’ tentacles in Inkopolis Plaza, Inkopolis Square, and Splatsville.
- In Splatoon 2 and 3, the Jellyfish change colors during Splatfests to correspond to the team colors.
- A Jellyfish can be seen on a skateboard in Inkopolis Square.
- In Splatoon 3, there are some tall jellyfish in Splatsville that are reminiscent of a type of jellyfish that can be found while riding the train in the Deepsea Metro.
- DJ Lee Fish’s name is a pun on Jellyfish.
