Inklings and Octolings holding various different shooter weapons from Splatoon 3.
“ | Your go-to weapon can be short-range, long-range, or just plain messy (like the Splat Roller). Each has its own benefits and weaknesses, so there's something for every play style! | ” |
— Splatoon's official website, [1]

The Main weapon is the primary type of weapon players use in the Splatoon series. Each main weapon has its own set of sub weapons and special weapons.
List of main weapons[]
Shooters[]

Artwork of an Inkling boy holding a Splattershot.
On the surface, shooters are pretty straightforward. When the player presses ZR—they shoot! But the range of functions and features these weapons possess is quite impressive indeed!

Artwork of an Inkling holding a Range Blaster.
The Blasters (ブラスター Braster?) are a subclass of shooters that are able to fire large globs of ink with a delayed explosion. The explosion allows users to attack opponents located behind obstacles or around corners.
Some have burst-fire operation, requiring the player to tap the trigger repeatedly and firing multiple bullets per tap.
If a box in a column is gray, then it doesn't exist in its respectful game. For example, The Kensa Splattershot Jr.'s Splatoon and Splatoon 3 boxes are gray, which means that it doesn't exist in those games. The Splatoon 2box says "Available" which means that it is available in the second game.

Rollers[]

Artwork of an Octoling boy holding an Gold Dynamo Roller.
The Rollers (ローラー Rōrā?) are versatile weapons that can lay down a wide path of ink on the ground or fling it forward for a more traditional attack. For most rollers, running into enemies will instantly splat them, changing the splat cam message from "splatted" to "squished" (Splatoon) or "crushed" (Splatoon 2).

Artwork of an Inkling holding an Inkbrush.
The Brushes (フデ Fude?) are an official subclass of rollers that have weaker, more rapid swings and do not have a vertical swing attack. Prior to Splatoon 3, they were classified as rollers.

Brellas[]

Artwork of an Inkling holding the Splat Brella.
Brellas (シェルター Sherutā?, lit. Shelter) are shotgun-like weapon class that fire a narrow cone-shaped spray of ink each time the trigger is pulled. If the player holds down the trigger, the brella will unfold, providing a protective shield that will absorb enemy attacks. The shield can be broken if enough ink is fired at it.
If the player holds down the trigger even longer, the Brella will detach from the main weapon and propel itself in the direction it is aimed, inking the ground as it travels. It will still protect anyone behind it from enemy fire until it vanishes, but the shield will be disabled for a short time after it is launched.

Slosher |
Modified Sloshing Machine. A high-damage, long-range, slow rate of fire with high ink consumption Sloshing Machine. The projectiles from it penetrate shields and keep moving after hitting an enemy. It behaves similar to the Dynamo Roller. The defining factor that sets the Grizzco Slosher apart is its unique ability to pierce through any armor, similar to the Sting Ray and the Explosher.
The weapon has a very high ink consumption, only allowing for a maximum of 4 shots with a full tank. |

Stringer |
Modified Tri-Stringer. A Stringer with many different reticles and a wide radius. It fires nine projectiles per shot and charges quickly but has low accuracy due to its irregular spread pattern.
