The Octobrush is a Main Roller weapon in Splatoon and Splatoon 2. It was released as free DLC on July 17th, 2015 at 7 PM PT along with the N-ZAP '89 in Splatoon.

Description

The Octobrush is one of two brush weapons, the other being the Inkbrush. It functions similar to said weapon, but it is slightly slower to use and covers more area when ink is flung.

Weapon Quote

"The Octobrush is a brush with denser bristles that fling even more ink with each swipe! Use that mobility to scatter Squid Beakons everywhere, giving your whole team free reign of the battlefield! No need to hesitateโ€” you can always use the Kraken to run away in a pinch. Your team will love you!"

Weapon strategies

Shooters: Shooters can be very tricky, most shooters have a range advantage on you, however you generally can inflict enough damage to splat them before they splat you, so try playing stealthily.

Rollers: Rollers are going to be a tricky matchup, but for the most part, stealth is your best ally.

Chargers: Another place where stealth is an amazing thing to have, if you feel uneasy, just let a teamate pick them off or go find new turf.

Sloshers: These are by far the worst thing to go up against as an octobrush, stealth isnt as effective because of their unusually large cover/damage area. Speed and quick movements are your best friends for these guys.

Splatlings: By far the easiest to take out, just wait for them to start winding up then attack. Patience is a virtue.

Splat Zones: Only use this weapon when Blackbelly Skatepark is in the rotation. This is Nintendo's tallest structure.

Trivia

  • The name indicates this weapon is of Octarian origin. this is supported by the purple ink seen in the preview image of the weapon, and serves as the brush version of the Hero Roller Replica.
  • This weapon shares its sub and special with the Krak-On Splat Roller.
