Order, later known as the Overlorder and Smollusk, is the main antagonist in Splatoon 3’s Side Order DLC. Generated by Marina Ida, it is a consciousness generated from the processes of people who yearn for stability.

Appearance[]

Order’s original form is a black cloud comprised of glitches and noise, with a cartoonish octopus face that glitches in and out of focus and tendrils coming from the bottom of it resembling tentacles. The proportions of the face change rapidly as it glitches.

In its “Overlorder” form, it is a gigantic octopus with eyes made from red 8-balls and a white bone-like structure, though it is covered in the same ink as the Jelletons. After it is defeated for the first time, it becomes “Smollusk”, a much smaller version of its octopus form with black tips at the end of its tendrils and a white color, with natural eyes, though retaining its eight-shaped pupils.

Behavior[]

In the first stage, two portals will protect Order's barrier, similar to Marina Agitando's barrier.

In the second stage, there are three portals, and as they take damage, they tend to move around, slowly at first, then faster as they take more damage, before stopping if left ignored for some time.

In the third stage, there are four portals to take out to eliminate Order's barrier. Order will also attack through spawning Jelletons to protect it, a barrage of large ink blobs, a Super Chump spread around itself, a trio of tracking Sting Rays it shoots from its eyes and mouth, or a barrage of at least four Reefsliders from its mouth.

During the final stage in the first fight with it, Order traps the Color Chips in its portals. Upon destroying a portal, Agent 8 gains a complete set of all Color Chips of a single color. Once they collect all of them, Pearl is able to deliver a color-powered Killer Wail strike at Order via the Special Gauge to finish it off and end the fight.

Strategy[]

Any strategies you used for the Marina Agitando fight can and should be applied here, as the fights are very similar. Just be aware that you will lose all of your color chips before the fight. Also be aware that some portals will move around.

Personality[]

As Order was designed by Marina initially to be an AI within her realm of “Side Order” and a neutral representation of the desires and hopes of all who want stability, Order is somewhat robotic and dislikes chaos, only wanting to approach things in a mathematically sound and orderly way, but as such is unable to truly understand feelings such as happiness and wants to stop change permanently, seeing it as disorderly. Although it is for the most part emotionless it can be found growing angry, lashing out and assuming that all feelings and connections must be chaotic, and harming others without any qualms to do so, only caring for Marina, its creator, and as such lashing out again when Marina denounces its plan.

Order is young however, and once defeated shows a more youthful persona, being a somewhat clingy young troublemaker octopus who likes the idea of order and speaks in a baby voice, becoming much less of a threat. When later defeated he called himself weak while Pearl said he was strong and deiced to look away while you reformat the palette. When you beat him with 8's palette he hopes to battle you more.
