The Intensifying Harmony!
Parallel Canon

— Parallel Canon's tagline

The Parallel Canon (イカイノカノン Ikainokanon?, lit. Otherworldly Canon) is one of the three random Boss Fights in the Side Order DLC for Splatoon 3. They appear on the Intensifying-Harmony.Floor. They are the Jelleton version of Inklings that uses the data of Agent 4 that was acquired by Order, with the masked figure being a direct copy of Agent 4 and the helmet wearers being copies of a copy.

Appearance[]

Parallel Canon consists of seven robotic Inklings. They seem to be made from some sort of metallic material, and all have two glowing red eyes. The leader robot is the only one with hair. They have a corrupted black drone similar to the Pearl drone. If the player imported their Splatoon 2 account data into their copy of Splatoon 3 on first startup, the leader of the robotic Inklings will be modeled after their Agent 4 customization choices. If not, it has the "Haircut" hairstyle.

Attacks[]

A single robot will Super Jump into the arena. Once it has been defeated, two more jump in. The final wave will have four robots. The robots have these weapons. Each of Parallel Canon's bodies will be equipped with one of the following weapon sets:

1. Order Shot with Splat Bomb and Triple Splashdown
2. Order Dualies with Curling Bomb and Tenta Missiles
3. Order Brella with Splat Bomb and Ink Storm
4. Order Blaster with Curling Bomb and Wave Breaker
5. Order Slosher with Splat Bomb and Tenta Missiles
6. Order Roller with Curling Bomb and Big Bubbler
7. Orderbrush with Splat Bomb and Ink Storm

The enemy with visible hair will always wield the Order Shot and enter the battlefield by using their Triple Splashdown. Their drones lock onto the player at all times, making hiding from them ineffective but also revealing their rough location. They can also summon Jelleton reinforcements.

Tips[]

  • The AI used by the robotic Inklings is very similar to the Elite Fuzzy Octolings, however, they are much more accurate with both sub and main weapons, but don't use specials as often. Take any tactics used with Elite Octolings and put them to use here.
  • Based on the color chips selected, each Roboling will also use the same, if not similar color chips based on your chips, the color of each chip, and how much of one chip you have. The following chips below will be used by each Roboling if they are equipped in your palette:
    • Power Chips: Main Firing Speed, All Damage Chips, and Soundwave Damage
    • Range Chips: Main Turf Coverage, Special Power Up, Hinderance Damage, Main Firing Range, and Splash Radius
    • Support Chips: Ink saver (Main and Support), Brella Lock (Rare), Bella Recharge Time, and Shot Spread Reduction
    • Mobility Chips: Run and Swim Speed up, Mobile Special Charge, and Extra Dodge Rolls
  • If being fought on Floor 20, there is one additional Roboling in each wave. Along with this, there is also a slim change of each Roboling having random color chips on top of the loadout based on your palette.

Jelleton Field Guide[]

They're tough opponents who look...a lot like Eight. It goes past looks too. The more powered-up your Palette is, the more resourceful they get.

— Acht
Don't get caught in a pincer maneuver! Use the high ground in the middle to force one-on-one skirmishes.

— Marina
They can do Triple Splashdowns out of nowhere?! Where'd these biters learn THAT trick?

— Pearl
Pick 'em off one at a time!

Trivia[]

  • The name has a double meaning:
    • Parallel Canon could refer to the fact that enemies imitating players in the Splatoon franchise are typically living Octolings, but in this bossfight they are the opposite to the typical canon: Robot Inklings.
    • It could be because all of the enemy names are based off of musical terms; canon in music is a compositional technique in which an initial melody is repeated at a specific time interval by one or more parts at either the same or different pitch.
    • Parallel is also a term used in science fiction to refer to an alternate version of something, for example a "parallel universe".
    • So this can be Stiched together, to make Parallel Canon or "Alternate Truth"
  • The AI used by the robotic Inklings is very similar to the Elite Fuzzy Octolings, however, they are much more accurate with both sub and main weapons, but don't use specials as often. Take any tactics used with Elite Octolings and put them to use here.
  • The hairstyle of the leader Inkling will change to the player's chosen Splatoon 2's Inkling hairstyle.
  • This is the second boss in Side Order to have a cutscene before the fight, the first being Marina Agitando.
