The Slammin' Lid is a Boss Salmonid in Splatoon 3’s Salmon Run: The Next Wave. The Boss Salmonid was introduced in the Nintendo Direct on August 10, 2022.

Appearance[]

The Slammin' Lid appears to be a Chum on top of the lid of a cooking pot, continuing the "food" theme that Salmonids have. When spawned, it flies in the air and creates a circle barrier in which the players ink cannot pass.

Strategy[]

When the player goes into the barrier, the Slammin' Lid falls down and any player caught in its range will get splatted. To defeat the Slammin' Lid, the player must splat the main body on top of the lid. Since the lid is typically high up, the player should enter and quickly leave the barrier, causing the boss salmonid to fall. Anything underneath the Slammin' Lid when it falls will be killed, including other Boss Salmonids. Once on the ground, the player can get aboard the Slammin' Lid and have easy access to splat it. Alternatively, the player can also just get to a high vantage point and shoot the main body.

If the pilot is not splatted immediately, players can use the lid as high ground once it floats back up into the air. However, the pilot will eventually brandish a soup ladle and perform a 360-degree swing to knock players off the lid. Players can attempt to walk and push against the pilot during this swing to cancel most of the momentum from being hit and stay on the lid. The pilot will repeatedly use the ladle swing at set intervals until all players are knocked off or the Slammin' Lid is shot down.

Tips[]

  • This boss salmonids will encounter in most location and it will move to the center if ignored which will flood the area with Lessers
  • If there is a Fish Stick near a Slammin' Lid, you can use the Lid to lift yourself up to the pillar to splat the Smallfries on it, saving your Ink for your weapons that costs a lot of ink.
  • This boss is really good to synergise with Steelheads. Chargers and Splatlings can't hit Steelhead's bomb as Slammin' Lid’s force field protects it, causing the players to retreat and lose the front.

Trivia[]

  • Prior to 2.0.0, if players manage to stay on the Slammin' Lid after the pilot tries to hit them off with the ladle, the second swing will go through the players as if it has no hurtbox. From then on, subsequent swings will alternate between hitting and not hitting the players.
  • The technology used to create the Slammin' Lid was a result of the Salmonids trading with the Octarians.[1]
  • Only highly experienced veterans can pilot them, as they cost alot to make.[1]
  • The Slammin' Lid is equipped with no weapons in order to save on weight.[1]
