SplatNet 2 is the second online service in the Splatoon franchise and is compatible with Splatoon 2. It alongside Splatoon 2 were announced the same day on July 6th 2017 through the Nintendo direct held, then the specific direct segment containing it and the game after the direct. [1] It is currently available through the Nintendo Switch Online App like its successor SplatNet 3. To utilise the app an Nintendo account is required and Splatoon 2 is required to have been played.

Home[]
The home page is the main page the user loads onto. It contains multiple sections and access to the SplatNet Gear Shop, Stages, My Stats, Battles and Salmon Run.
Sections[]
Player Stats[]
This is the shown on the homepage at the top and is loaded onto an icon resembling a tag. It has the Nintendo Account name associated with the Nintendo Switch Online account alongside the player stats. These being listed in order: Level, rank in each respective game mode outside of turf war and the amount of turf inked. This has some customisation such as changing the colour of the tab and favourite stage through a drop down menu. These are displayed as an image and the tag changing colour.
Under the same section the most recent outfit and weapon is displayed with the option to share it.
Splatfests[]
During the Splatoon 2 Splatfests, a section would appear on the main page containing the teams alongside the teams chosen by the users Nintendo Accounts friends. This feature was last utilised in the Super Mushroom vs. Super Star Splatfest. The results and key information, excluding teams chosen by the user's Nintendo Account friends, are currently available in the 'My Stats section.
CPOD FM[]
This section previously showed the latest news for the game Splatoon 2, it currently has a Grizzco Industries' advertisement playing. Upon tapping it the user is sent to a section for the Salmon Run shift schedule displaying the current shift and the upcoming shift.
Stages[]
This is a small section displaying the current stages for each game mode in a speech bubble with an icon of Marina or Pearl besides it. The user has the option to quickly view the stages or tap it to get a more in depth view, When tapping it the user is sent to the Stages tab.
Help Wanted[]
This is a small section with the Mr Grizz bear statue' face besides a speech bubble. It says "Apply today!" along with the current Salmon Run schedule, stage, weapons and reward gear. When the user taps it they are sent to the Salmon Run shift schedule page.
Stats[]
This section is small with Li'l Judd telling the user they are able to view their results along with displaying the four most recent ones and the weapon used. Upon tapping the user is sent to the Battle Stats.
Lifetime Inkage[]
This states the users overall inkage on their save data along with how far the ink can reach. Along with this it also displays how much is needed to reach the next milestone. When clicked the user is sent to that section in 'My Stats'.
Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion[]
This section advertises Octo Expansion. The user has the option to click a tab that sends them to Nintendo.com official website and to Octo Expansion's page.
Stages[]
This displays the current stages on rotation. The default is Regular battles, also known as Turf War, but the user can select Ranked and League Battles can be viewed. For Ranked and League Battles the game mode is displayed. In this section the map images are shown along with the user's account. Along the left side side of the screen times, these set by the user timezone, is displayed with a pink arrow scrolling down to indicate how long until the next stage rotation.
My Stats[]

This section contains multiple user stats the user has.
Lifetime Inkage[]
The players ink mileage is displayed here typically an Inkling. If the player has Octo Expansion a second option is displayed for Octoling lifetime inkage. When clicking the two icons the user can view and share how much ink they have used in game along with receiving downloadable wallpapers. These locations and wallpapers are unique to between species, hence the separation in the app.

Weapon Stats[]
This shows the three most used weapons and total turf inked, rating and any applicable medal. When tapped all weapons are listed in initially the order of most recent but this can be changed. The applicable options are Favorites, Main, Sub, Special, Turf Inked and Wins. The weapons in this section show total wins, turf inked and fresh rating for user based data along with name, sub weapons and special. If a weapon has a large amount of inked turfed depending on amount a badge is displayed besides the amount.
Stage Stats[]
This displays the two on rotation maps for Ranked Battles when tapped game stats for the user are displayed for their overall win rates along with each individual game mode. They user has the option to view all maps when tapping the link beneath. This initially displays the most recently played maps and their stats. The user has the option to view the maps by each ranked modes respective win rates with the highest percentage map being displayed first.
X Rank Leaderboard[]
This displays the top players for X Rank in each game mode for X Battles. The user can view previous one by changing the years and month, these only go up to the current month and year and begin at May 2018 shown as 2018/ 5. This also list the dates the data was collected.
Splatfest Stats[]
This displays the most recent Splatfest rank and the user has the option to view previous ones. When tapped the Splatfest is displayed along with the average and total points in the Normal and Challenge mode. It also displays what number the Splatfest was along with which team won with 'Victory' besides the team.
League Battle[]
This displays the highest league power in the four and two person teams for League Battles, along with how many wild total medals. When tapped the user can change the dates to view the mode along with the top 100 players and weapons. The earliest data is 21/ 7/ 2017 at 11:00 - 13:00 for Team mode.
Agent 4 Stats[]
Agent 4 stats display a title and stage clearance percentage. This increases past 100 with each stage being cleared with each weapon. When tapped by the user they are shown an image of agent 4 along with a stage clear percentage. The display for the sectors is initally the best times but the user has the option to view it by weapon. Each weapon that has been used in all sectors have a yellow star besides it.
Network[]
This lists the network disconnects.
Battles[]
Battle stats displays the last 50 battles victories, defeats along with average kills and special usage. The user can also see the type of matches and win in ranks. The mode icon is displayed in the right hand corner.
Salmon Run[]
This page displays the user stat for Salmon Run, current gear and map rotation along with the previous seven Salmon run results and map. For stats outside of ranking and last 50 job average a point card is displayed with current points, shifts worked, total golden eggs collected, total power eggs collected and total points. The user can also view six of the previous Salmon Run shift data.
SplatNet Gear Shop[]
The SplatNet Gear shop, in universe is ran by Annie based on her icon being show promoting it. This shop displays six gear items total which the user can purchase, only one at a time however. Each item is displayed for 12 hours with the oldest item being removed and replaced. Items from the shop can have a different primary ability. The items in the shop cost more depending on star rating, with 1 stars having the highest increase of 2.5 time the original price and 3 having the lowest at 1.5 times the original price. 2 stars have an increase of 2 times the original price.
When an item is purchased they picked up from Murch in Inkopolis Square immediately, duplicates cannot be owned however and if the user has the item already they will have the option to replace it.
If the user attempts to make multiple purchases at the same time they are given the option to replace it. This can be avoided if they purchase it from Murch.
Aditional features[]
The app allows users to utilise the Nintendo Switch Online features. These include voice chat through the Nintendo Switch Online app along with this users can invite other players, these can be previous users played with those on their friends and social network friends. [2] The voice chat is limited to the users team however but is automatically split into the teams.
Trivia[]
- SplatNet 2 can be refreshed by tapping the Spawn Point-like icon in the bottom right.
- The reloading icon has the standard squid design used.
- The initial icon for the SplatNet Gear shop was originally on a grey spot with stripes, this was later updated to lime green flower like design with lavender arrows and neon blue zigzags.
- The bag design was also changed to from a white stencil of a bag to a white bag with two eyes on it.
- At the bottom of the home page users can view the credits and acknowledgements.
- When reading the credits each member of the team who made SplatNet2 have a weapon or sub weapon besides their name
