SplatNet 3 is the 3rd online service in the Splatoon franchise and is compatible with Splatoon 3. It was announced alongside the game 10th August 2022 in the Splatoon 3 Direct held that day.[1] It is available through the Nintendo Switch Online App like its predecessor SplatNet 2. To utilise the app an Nintendo account is required and Splatoon 3 is required to have been played.

Home[]

This is the main page when opening the app showing the user multiple page options and is one of the four main pages. The top bar promotes the Splatfests, Big Runs, Wandercrust and exclusive gear found in the app. Beneath this friend of the users who are online playing Splatoon 3 currently. There are also multiple icons to access various other parts of the app. When a Splatfest is held there is a secondary banner scrolling at the bottom promoting the event.

Online[]

This shows the user's Nintendo Account friends who are currently online Playing Splatoon 2. When tapped the full friends list is displayed with online users at the top stating what they are doing in game. There is an option to reload at the bottom of the screen.

SplatNet Shop[]

This is the online store to purchase gear for Splatoon 3. It like it's predecessor is ran by Annie based on the icon with her face. When icon is selected the user can view the daily drop which is a headgear, clothing and shows by the same brand that is available to users for twenty four hours. Beneath the items the potential ability is listed and the effect it has in game. The next brand drop is listed beneath this, however the items are unknown. The following section is 'Gear on Sale Now' which has a random assortment of six items available to purchase. This is updated every four hours. Each item has a unique primary ability and only one can be ordered at a time. When ordered they can be collected from Murch in Splatsville or Spike in Inkopolis Plaza or Inkopolis Square.

Items purchased off the app do not require real currency but the coins collected in game.

Freshest Fits[]

This section displays the users current gear and weapon they were wearing in their most recent battle. This includes the main abilities and sub abilities of gear, and the weapon's special and sub weapon.

The user has the option to create a Fit in this section, this is done by selecting the weapon, headgear, clothes and shoes. To search for a specific item the user can filter based on ability and in game gear brands. Multiple of these can be selected. Items in this section show all their abilities along with their stars, brand and name. When a Fit is being created it displays each ability along with the total positive stat in increases in total. In this section it also explains to the user that "Secondary gear abilities are 30% as effective as primary abilities." In this section the user has the option to view and change the controls for the fit in both handheld and TV/Tabletop Mode. This can be hidden at any time.

When a fit is saved the user also has the option to share it via their social media or contacts.

History[]

The History section is broken into four sections.

Summary[]

This displays a users current nametag, username and pins at the top of the summary for this page of the app. Beneath this it shows the users current gear and weapon along with how long the user has been playing and when they last played. The user's current icon, level and rank are displayed. Beneath this their All-Time best, Total wins, Turf inked, challenge cups and times participated, anarchy battle open and times participated and favourite weapons are listed.

Weapon Stats[]

This displays the user's weapon usage breakdown. They can view the last three month all the way back to Drizzle Season 2022, which was when the game debuted.

Badges[]

This shows the users total badges. There are two sections the most recent ones along with all badges the user has.

X Battle[]

This displays a user's X Battle stats from each season which are calculated at the end of each. If a user does not participate in X battles this remains available but beneath the icons of each game mode there are two dashes.

X Rankings[]

This was added in a later update but displays the number 1 player in each game mode along with their weapon. When tapped the user can view the top 500 players on the leader board and the top Weapon Wielders. The user can also view previous seasons. This section is also split between Tentatek Division and Takoroka Division. This appears to be the split between Japanese players and the rest of the world. It's noted the results for the season are calculated at the end of each and can take days to appear in the fine print.

Challenge[]

This lists previous seasons challenges along with the dates and times they were held. This goes back to Sizzle Season 2023.

Wandercrust[]

Also known as Wandercrust Tour and Sean's Wandercrust Tour is a new feature in which players can support Crusty Sean's travels through using ink points which are earned from in game battles. Once a journey is completed players will receive rewards called 'Souvenirs'. This includes special wallpapers for their smart device. Catalog[]

This shows the progress of the in game catalog you can receive from Hotlantis and give updates to when the next one will be available.

Album[]

This will show up to 20 photos the user has taken and sent to their device for up to three months.

Tournaments[]

This shows the user tournaments they are participating in along with giving them the option to create their own after viewing the guidelines. The user has the option to create tournament album also. This section also contains a Tournament-Director History, Records and Recently Viewed.The Tournament-Director displays tournaments the user has directed and created, the Records display tournament records and the Recently Viewed shows the user to view the tournaments they recently viewed.

Side Order[]

This was added with the release of Side Order 22nd February 2024.[2] This displays the users high score, Color-Chip Usage breakdown and their most recent runs and if they passed or failed. They also show the score for each. When tapped the user can view the pallete, chips and total hacks the player had active.

Palletes[]

The Player is first displayed a statement stating "Clear with All Palletes for special Rewards!". Then displays the total clears with each pallete or the highest progress made with each.

Color Chips[]

This displays the total color chips collected and the largest amount the user had in a run. These are broken down into 'Power' which are the red chips, 'Support' which which are the purple chips, 'Range' which are the yellow chips, 'Mobility' which are the blue chips, 'Luck' which are the lime chips and Drone which are the cyan chips. These are further broken down into the individual chips that can be earnt in Side Order.

Field Guide[]

This shows the total number of Jelleton's the user has killed as well as the number of bosses defeated.

Weapons[]

This shows weapons the users weapon stats. This includes the stars, wins, Fresh Meter and Turf Inked. It also shows weapons you don't own. You can sort these by most used, main, sub, special, turf inked, freshness and next freshness up.

Stages[]

This shows the users played stages and those which the user has not, along with this, how many wins the user has on that stage by game mode.

SplatFest[]

This displays the Splatfest results. When a Splatfest is open it is displayed on the top along with the option to view which teams the user's friends have selected. This ranges from actual votes, planned votes and undecided votes. The user can view which teams their friends selected and what ones they are planning to join. When a previous splatfest is selected the results can be viewed along with which team won. The user can also view the top 100 players for each team.

Work[]

Work displays the user's high scores in each Salmon run map, this being their highest paygrade. Along with this the user's Big Run stats can be viewed with their highest score. Trophies earned from Eggstra Work are also displayed. The user can also view the Salmonids they splatted, this includes the bosses.

Story mode[]

This shows a users exploration rate through each site in Alterna, the user's best times for completing each stage and weapons used. Once story mode clear bonus is completed you can get a special image of Mr. Grizz's final form. You can get this in 1440 x 3120 or 3120 x 3120.

View replays[]

Users can download battle replays by using the unique code, these can be accessed in-game. You can also view the 50 most recent downloads over 30 days.

Room Creation[]

This allows a user to set a private battle up and share it using a URL, unlike regular private battles these can be joined by the following:

  • Those with the URL
  • Friends or other players in your Pool the friends menu and notification even if the do not have the URL

In these rooms voice chare cannot be used and if the room has been empty for 30 minutes it will automatically close.

QR code reader[]

This will allow users to read QR codes. This can be done using the camera or a photo on the device.

Settings[]

This shows users Nintendo ID that is linked to the account by showing user's in-game splatoon 3 username. It also shows copyright , credits , information on sending usage data and a link to the expansion pass. At the bottom it shows the current version of SplatNet 3.

Schedule[]

This displays the schedule for over the course of twenty four hours this includes stages for turf war, stages for anarchy battles, what mode is available and salmon run weapons and stages. This includes each game mode and challenge. With challenges it displays when the next one will be open. With Salmon Run it displays the map, weapons and King Salmonid.

When a Splatfest is active Regular Battle, Anarchy Battle and X Battle state "Splatfest Active" and do not display any maps. The user can view the maps for the splatfest game modes and can go back to Splatfest Stats.

Battles[]

This displays the battle logs of the user. This includes the type of battles, the weapon, average kill count average death count and average special count, wins and losses and total points earned from covering turf. This can show Latest, Regular Battle, Anarchy Battle, X Battle, Challenge and private battle.

Salmon Run[]

This displays the users current rank, average wave clearance, the current gear, scales, Grizzco Point Card, Scheduel and Job Logs. The Grizzco Point card displays current point, shifts worked, golden eggs collected, power eggs collected, Xtrawaves cleared, crew members rescued and total points.

This will show anything to do with Salmon Run, including what item is available, your rank, stages and weapons. The Job Log displays the job and their results for a limited period of time. These can be viewed to show a full breakdown of the results.
