Splatana is one of the main weapon types in Splatoon 3.

Splatanas are sword-like weapons, largely based on katanas in Japanese culture. They were first announced in the Splatoon 3 August 10, 2022 Direct. They largely perform like rollers, flinging ink horizontally with each press of ZR. However, if you hold ZR, you will charge up a powerful vertical fling. So far, there are only 4 Splatana variations.

List of Splatanas[]

  • Splatana Wiper - Splatana Wipers are fast and light, but do less damage per hit and are unlocked at a lower level than the Splatana Stamper. They are also more effective at quickly inking turf than their counterpart. They resemble a car windshield wiper.
  • Splatana Stamper - Splatana Stampers are slower and heavier, but do a lot of damage per hit compared to their counterpart. They resemble a wheeled stamper.
  • Mint Decavitator - Mint Decavitators are slower and heavier than Stampers, but are able to cover turf very easily with its horizontal ink slashes. Holding ZR and releasing doesn't create a vertical ink slash, but a wide horizontal slash that has amazing range, and dashing with it goes much farther than its older counterparts. The inner blade of the Mint Decavitator resembles a toothbrush with the nurdle.
  • Grizzco Splatana - This splatana that only shows up on rare occasions in Salmon Run packs a ginormous punch. It has miniscule range much like that of a real sword, and doesn't create ink slashes. But it does have wide ink coverage and does a ton of damage with each horizontal swing. Holding ZR doesn't create an ink slash, but a powerful swing that pierces armor and can one-shot any Salmonoid that falls into your path with a dash that travels incredibly far.
