Splatoween is a special Splatfest in Splatoon 2 and 3, which takes place near the end of October. During the Fest, all of Inkopolis and Splatsville (including stages) are decorated with Halloween-related items, such as ghost decorations.
Dates[]
The first Splatoween occurred on Friday, October 19 at 3pm PT, to Sunday, October 21 at 3pm PT — 48 hours in total.
On October 13, 2023, the event was announced for Splatoon 3, and is set to take place Friday, October 27 at 5pm PT, through Sunday, October 29 at 5pm PT.
Splatoween[]
The first Splatoween was on October 19th to 21st on 2020. The theme was Trick Vs. Treat. Pearl was Trick, and Marina was Treat. Trick got the popular vote, but Treat won the Open and Pro clout, thus giving them the win.
Splatoon 2 had multiple Splatfest rematches, including Splatoween. Once again, Pearl was Trick, and Marina was Treat. Once again, Trick got the popular vote, but Treat won the Open and Pro Clout, giving them the win.
Splatoon 3's take on Splatoween asks, "Which would be the best friend?" With the options being a Zombie, a Skeleton, or a Ghost. It took place on October 27-29, 2023. Ghost had a majority of the votes, and Skeleton won the Open and Pro Clout. In the end, Ghost won, as they won the Sneak Peek and Tricolor Battle as well, with Zombie receiving no points.
Splatoon 3 had another Splatoween, this one asking "What would you be in the Fantasy World?" with the theme being Wizard, Knight, and Ninja. It took place on October 25-27, 2024. This time, Wizard won the Sneak Peek and got the most votes, but Ninja swept the Clout in all three with Open, Pro, and Tricolor, earning Ninja the win with 500 points while Wizard took second with 250 points and Knight third with 120 points.
Gear[]
4 pieces of headgear were made specially for this event, including the Kyonshi Hat (although it looks odd, it is based on Asian zombie folklore), Li’l Devil Horns, Hockey Mask, and Anglerfish Mask. These items were only obtainable through an article in the News tab of the Nintendo Switch, from the Splatoon 2 channel.
Once again, four pieces of gear were released for Splatoween, also via the News channel. These items include the Undead Head (a mummy mask), the Swim Reaper (a tentacle-face mask), the Plankton Walker (a pirate hat), and the Bleak Beak (a plague doctor mask).
In Splatoon 3's Splatoween 2024, the Kyonshi Hat, Lil' Devil Horns, Hockey Mask, and Anglerfish Masks returned. They are also only obtainable through the news channel.
First Discovered[]
This event was first in Splatoon 2 on October 9, but 5 hours later the pictures were released. In Splatoon 3, the event was again datamined, this time long before its official announcement on Friday the 13th.
