SO CUTE!

A Super Sea Snail (Japanese: スーパーサザエ Super Sazae) is an item of currency in Splatoon, Splatoon 2 and Splatoon 3 that the player can exchange with Spyke or Murch for either extra slots on the player's Gear or a reroll for all Gear Abilities on a select piece of Gear if it already has three ability slots. Spyke can provide his services for one of these, or he can use one of his own as long as the player covers the cost with 30,000 cash. They can be obtained during Splatfest, based on your performance in your team.  If your alignment wins, additional Super Sea Snails can be earned. Super Sea Snails are very rare, and this is confirmed by Judd in Splatoon and Splatoon 2.

After the Final Splatfest ended, Super Sea Snails could be obtained by leveling up after Level 30 and by playing 30 matches to receive one from Judd or Lil' Judd.

Trivia:[]

  • The tall, beady eyes of the snail itself resemble those of several items and objects in the Super Mario series, including the Super Mushroom.
    • They also resemble the baby Maiamais from The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
  • There was a bug where the player could get unlimited free Super Sea snails from Spyke. This bug was later patched.
  • When observing the Snails from Spyke or Murch, they can be seen shivering in terror, along with the empty shells of the other snails, hinting that the urchins eat the sea snails after obtaining them.
  • The gear slot properties of Super Sea Snails seem to lie more in their actual shells than the snails themselves, which according to Spyke are "juicy". This implies the snails are irrelevant to the process but can be consumed by certain species like urchins.
  • Super Sea Snails are available in Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo by ordering it from Inkwell's RV.
