Twintacle Octotroopers are Octarian fighters are the more advanced version of the standard Octotrooper. They present a deadlier threat than the average Octotrooper, and nearly entirely supplant the Octotrooper by the end of Hero Mode.
Description[]
Twintacle Octotroopers resemble the standard Octotrooper, but have two tentacles instead of one. Their eyes display an angry expression, compared to the slightly clueless ones of the standard Octotroopers. Additionally, their vehicles have gained a massive upgrade- having a firing button and joystick, instead of just a joystick. This allows the right tentacle of the Twintacle Octotrooper to mash the firing button, letting loose a mid-range barrage of shots that travel quite quickly compared to the standard Octotrooper's fire.
Besides this deadly capability and increased firing speed, Twintacle Octotroopers are not all that different from the standard Octotroopers. They will still gape at Splat Bombs sailing overhead, and forget about the player if they merely vanish behind cover. Additionally, they still have the durability of the Octotrooper, meaning that they will not stand up to the Inkzooka or Ink Cannon. However, in Octo Canyon, they have double the durability of the Octotrooper. Also, should they move into the player's ink, they have a very hard time moving, and they start to look panicked. After the Inkling is out of sight though, they will pause to spread out friendly Octarian ink to make movement easier for them, leaving them vulnerable and distracted, and will even smile as they lay down the ink to make things easier for them to maneuver.
By the end of Hero Mode, standard Octotroopers are almost never seen. Twintacle Octotroopers entirely supplant them at that point, supported by Octolings, Octosnipers, Octobombers, and various other Octarian fighters.
In Splatoon 2, like the rest of the Octarians, Twintacles have improved AI, allowing them to spot an Inkling by their ink being shot, a squid moving quickly in ink by their ripples, improving their targeting, and increasing the amount of time an Inkling needs to hide before they let their guard down.
Other Roles[]
Octoseeker[]
The (presumably) most elite Twintacles pilot the dangerous Octoseeker, which allows them to use the joystick to steer it, and the button to have it drop and crush anyone underneath, before pushing it again to lift it back up to resume its flight pattern.
Twintacle Octodiver[]
These act just like the Snorkel Octotrooper. But instead of an Octotrooper, it is an Twintacle Octotrooper. It has the usual snorkel mask that allows them to hide in ink.
Deluxe Twintacle Octotrooper[]
This is a buffed version of the Twintacle Octotrooper, as it now has the ability to dualie-like dodges. After an attack, it has a burst of two dodges, ending with another attack.
